- Register with the Department of State (DoS)
Note: Any company which exports a defense article (including technical data) or provides a defense service or manufactures a defense article (even if it is not an exporter) must be registered with the DoS Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) [ITAR 122.2]. - Register with the Department of the Treasury (DoT)
Note: Any company which manufactures, imports or exports explosives including certain components must be registered with the DoT, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) [multiple regulations may apply]. - Subscribe to DDTC’s DTrade website to enable automated export license applications and status tracking
- Subscribe to a vendor’s automated debarred parties list
- Conduct export compliance audits
- Classify company products
- Assist company to establish or strengthen its export compliance program; implement process improvements
- Provide Export Compliance Manual and Procedures (Instructions) and training
- Integrate Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) procedures within the export compliance program
- Prepare export and temporary import licenses, manufacturing and technical assistance agreements
- Advise of ITAR exemptions
- Resolve export/import related problems
- Assist the company to submit a voluntary self disclosure, when necessary
- Support export compliance activities associated with the export of commercial (dual use) commodities as authorized under the Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- Coordinate classified export and import activities with company security in compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD) National Industrial Security Policy Operating Manual (NISPOM)
